Coatimundis (also called "Coatis")
often travel in large groups, as you can see in the photo. The variety of coati found in Costa Rica is the White Nosed Coati.
They are related to the raccoon, and like raccoons can be quite fearless around humans. Unlike raccoons, they are mostly diurnal.
Their amazing nose can rotate up to 60 degrees!
Coatis like to sleep up in the rainforest canopy in nests they build for themselves.
